Matching a slide to a Polymer80 frame without guessing
A Polymer80 frame is only half a pistol. The slide, barrel and recoil spring on top decide whether it runs. Here is how to match them.
Frame decides the slide length
- PF940v2: full-size Gen 3 slides, the Glock 17, 22, 34 and 35 pattern.
- PF940C: compact Gen 3 slides, the Glock 19, 23 and 32 pattern. A full-size slide also fits and gives a longer sight radius.
- PF940SC: subcompact Gen 3, the Glock 26 and 27 pattern.
- PF9SS: Glock 43 slides only.
- PF45: Glock 20 and 21 slides.
Generation matters
Buy Gen 3 slides. Gen 4 slides fit Gen 3 frames but use a different recoil spring assembly; Gen 5 slides need Gen 5 internals and are the most common mismatch we see.
Barrel and spring come with the slide pattern
A G19 slide wants a G19 barrel and a G19 recoil spring. Threaded barrels need a slide cut long enough for the thread protector to clear.
Optics cuts
Slide optic cuts are named by footprint: RMR, MOS or RMSc. Match the cut to the red dot you own before ordering, because adapter plates raise the dot and can block iron sights.
Check before the first shot
Function check unloaded: slide travel without drag, trigger reset, and that the striker does not release when the slide goes into battery. Any drag usually means a rail tab left proud during finishing.
